Thanksgiving is a time to pause, give thanks, and reconnect with what truly matters — family, friends, and the small moments of joy we often rush past. For kids, it’s also a wonderful opportunity to practice gratitude through movement, breath, and mindfulness.

Yoga helps children connect their bodies and minds, creating space to notice and appreciate the present moment. When we blend yoga with gratitude, we teach kids that thankfulness isn’t just something weĀ say — it’s something we feel and live.

Here’s a simple Kids Yoga Gratitude Flow to try this Thanksgiving:

Mountain Pose (Thankful and Tall)
Stand with your feet grounded and hands at heart center. Take a deep breath and say one thing you’re thankful for. Feel your feet rooted in gratitude.

Tree Pose (Growing Gratitude)
Balance on one foot and imagine you’re a tree soaking up the love and support around you. Think of someone who helps you grow — a friend, teacher, or family member.

Child’s Pose (Peaceful Pause)
Kneel, fold forward, and rest your forehead on the ground. Take a few slow breaths and whisper ā€œthank youā€ with each exhale.

Partner Pose (Thankful Together)
Sit back-to-back with a sibling or parent. Breathe together and feel the support of someone you love. Gratitude grows when it’s shared.

At the heart of Thanksgiving is connection — to each other, to nature, and to the moment we’re in. Yoga gives kids a way toĀ embody gratitude, turning the holiday into a living practice of appreciation, calm, and joy.

This year, instead of just saying ā€œthank you,ā€ let’s move through gratitude.

🧔 Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at It’s Yoga KidsĀ® — may your hearts, bellies, and breaths be full.

The stress is real! Between work, kids’ schedules, and the endless stream of distressing news on our screens, it’s no wonder we’re all feeling it. Exposure to violent or traumatic images — especially when we don’t expect them — can trigger early stress symptoms like poor sleep and mood swings.

Even parents are showing signs: the internet is calling itĀ ā€œCougar Pubertyā€ for moms inĀ perimenopauseĀ andĀ IMS (Irritable Male Syndrome) for dads. And let’s not forget the academic and social pressures our kids face daily.

So what’s the answer to all this stress? Yoga.

If you can’t make it to class, try these proven, portable practices:

🧘 Resonance Breathing — your ultimate anti-stress hack.

  1. Inhale through your nose for 5 counts.
  2. Exhale through your nose for 5 counts.
  3. Continue for at least a minute. Adjust the count as needed — just keep it even.

Mentorship is more than guidance—it’s transformation. And in the world of yoga, becoming a mentor means helping others reconnect with their bodies, minds, and purpose. That’s why It’s Yoga KidsĀ® Warrior Training is empowering a new wave of yoga mentors to lead with heart, skill, and intention.

For parents, educators, coaches, and caregivers, becoming a certified yoga leader through Warrior Training means gaining the tools to support children and families in meaningful, lasting ways.

Mentors trained through It’s Yoga KidsĀ® learn to guide others using theĀ High5 Habits—five essential practices that help kids and adults thrive:

  1. Mindfulness – Teaching awareness of thoughts, feelings, and surroundings

ADHD Awareness Month: How Yoga Supports Kids

October isĀ ADHD Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and offer meaningful support to children navigating attention challenges. ADHD affects millions of kids, shaping how they learn, move, and relate to others. But with the right tools, these children can thrive—and yoga is one of the most powerful resources available.

🌿 Nature and the ADHD Brain

Research continues to show that exposure to green spaces boosts cognition, creativity, and mood—especially for children with ADHD. According to a New York Times article, time spent in nature can help calm the mind and improve attention. While not every study finds the same results, the overall trend is clear: nature supports mental clarity and emotional balance.

Combining yoga with outdoor experiences amplifies these benefits. Practicing yoga in a park, garden, or even a backyard allows kids to move mindfully while absorbing the calming effects of the natural world.

🧘 Yoga as a Tool for Regulation

Yoga helps kids with ADHD by:

  • Improving body awareness and coordination
  • Teaching breath control to calm the nervous system
  • Building focus through structured movement
  • Creating space for emotional expression and release

Rather than asking kids to sit still, yoga invites them to move with purpose—channeling energy in ways that support learning and self-regulation.

šŸ’Ŗ The It’s Yoga KidsĀ® 3 Success Skills

At It’s Yoga KidsĀ®, we focus on three foundational skills that help children with ADHD become the best version of themselves:

  1. Adaptability Yoga teaches kids to adjust to new poses, environments, and sensations. This flexibility helps them navigate change with less frustration and more ease.
  2. Resilience Falling out of a pose? No problem. Yoga encourages kids to try again, building emotional strength and perseverance—key traits for managing ADHD challenges.
  3. Confidence Mastering a movement or simply showing up on the mat fosters self-belief. Yoga helps kids trust their bodies and minds, reinforcing a positive self-image.

🌟 Moving Forward with Compassion

ADHD doesn’t define a child—it’s just one part of their story. With yoga and nature as allies, kids can discover new ways to focus, express themselves, and succeed. This month, let’s raise awareness, reduce stigma, and celebrate the unique strengths of every child.
